BOTS AND WATER... fucking caps.

ok whats the deal with bots and water, im having no end of problems with em getting stuck for no reason, swimming around in circles etc... is there a magical lip needed for getting out of the water, at the mo im using 8... anybody know anything about this?

Maybe try to build a ramp out of the water with bot clip? Sort of a hack but should work.

aye, i remember steps that were 1mu deep/16mu high working well enough. might be that you could get away with even taller ones.

are you laying them out like this:

pretty sure that works. you might need some bot bait (item_botroam?) to tempt them out of the water.
btw, 16 looks to be the safe maximum. just tried 18 and it feels too easy to pause halfway up.

I would just botclip the water so it's more shallow for bots, so they can't go as deep... or do a bot do not enter so they won't go down at all. If they don't need to...

well, there is a mh in the water, i\ve reconfigured the water pool and now they dont seem so retarded. i think 1 of the reasons they jump in the pool so much is because ya can get shots off to most of the levels. but yeah, i did the bot clip to make it more shallow for em.

bots + water = comedic fail
provided the lip isn't much more than 8 units they can climb out like a human player, but in the water their IQ is reduced by half. i'd skip the water if i were you if you want decent bot play

A noclip might work, but the ramp will look crap! ive never seen this before on any premade maps, I just took q3dm17 for a spin and its fine with bots. But, id could have put a sample of a map with water in with radient. but, Carmack knows best.

Take a look at q3ctf2 (decompile it with q3map2) - the bots seem to do pretty okay on that map.

the issue has been sorted out for a wee while, cheers tho folks. final will be released in the next few day. i do have to say im quite proud of this effort. look out for q3dmp9

There's a setting for adjusting the height at which the bots "exit" the water. In other words, the bots try exiting the water before they actually can.
I forget what the setting is for raising it but I'm sure someone here probably does. Apparently you shouldn't raise it too much or the bots look shit when exiting the water.
