Faceball 2000. The sounds bring back so many memories. It was awsome multiplayer. 1 vs 1

Oh man I remember Heretic, I beleive it was one of the only fps games you could play 4 players at once on the console that was a fun one.

Unreal was amazing back in the day. As was Jedi Knight 2, my friends and I played the shit out of that game.

I don't think demos count fer very much, so I won't count Doom. Quake II was where I got seriously into fps. Other types of games don't hold my interest fer very long. Though I've gotten into Q3A, Quake4, and Doom3 - I still play Q2 online the most.

Catch 23 on the speccy.
First proper one though with texture maps and the like was Zero Tolerance on the Megadrive, closely followed by Doom on the Jaguar and Marathon on the Mac.

I can't remember the name of the game, but I vaguely remember fighting monsters in some underground dungeon of sorts. It was 20 years ago when I was just a little kid and I remember it being really easy to get lost, but that probably had more to do with my age than the game. I think I had to get my grandfather to launch it through DOS, I'm pretty sure it was on a 5.25" floppy.
I used to play it for hours and never made it past he first few levels. Damn, I wish I could remember the name.

First proper shooter for me was the original Doom, but my first experience with a 3D environment was The Colony on the Mac:

After some more youtubing i found the other game that i played back then, Beyond Dark Castle:

I think you're talking about Dungeon Master, or one of its many clones such as Bloodwych or Eye of the Beholder.
I played Dungeon Master too, but never really think of it as a first person shooter. Still one of my all-time favourites, and I've actually been playing it again recently thanks too
Dungeon Master Encyclopaedia.
It serves as a reminder that games back then were a LOT harder than they are now.

3D Monster Maze on the spectrum. I also had some other FPS style game set in Egypt. They were both terrible, but at the time, they looked incredible.

i had dungeon master on the ST.
mat, do you remember a game on the 48k, could of been the 64k, it was wireframe with a large map (at the time). you were a car or helicopter, i just can't remember. what i do remember is the theme music from that Peter Gun tune.
The frame rate was something like 10fps, it was jaw dropping at the time.
