i just bought a copy of q4. the 2nd disk of the 4 disk set will not install. I got the thing online so if i were to return it it would be by mail and take forever. It was kind of quirky from the begining , If your running windows vista you need to open the file and bring up the splash screen to get it to install. So I did that and the first disc installs like it's supposed to but when you switch to the 2nd it wont even start to install. It sounds like its the disk not being picked up by the laser appropriatly. Im guessing its probably the disc but im not 100% certain that it is. Do you have any suggestions that might make it work, or a download available that will get me thru to the third and fourth disc. If you can help please tell me how to do it. Like I said it sounds like the disc itself but it may not be. Thanks.

if you insert the 2nd disc, does it show up in My Computer?

yep, it shows up in my computer, but when you click on the contents it goes very slowly to show the contents of whatever icon you click on, wether you click on aoutrun or somthing else, it makes clicking noises and acts like the laser isnt getting a clear read on it. The other 3 discs of the set dont act like this.

that doesnt sound too good. Im sure youve tried cleaning the disc thoroughly?

The cd version does.

I didnt try cleaning it thuroughly becuase the disc is brand new. I was just wandering if you knew a way to get a single disc downloaded becuas you cant play the game if the 2nd disc didnt install and I bouht it online so Id have to wait for it to be mailed in order to fix it. But yeah your right the disc is probably shot.

Don't all id games need a key? So the media isn't relevant and should be legal to distribute. If he's got a key, then he should be allowed to get the media any way he can.
