Virus problem

Hello!

I have a virus of some sort. It causes Internet Explorer to not display any pages, at all. It displays "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

Firefox works fine. I wouldn't mind this, since I never use IE, but Gmail Notifier can't connect either. Further, Quicktime Alternative can't connect, so I can't watch any HD trailers.

I've downloaded AVG Free, but it doesn't find the virus.

Suspicious processes:

x2 rundll32.exe processes in the task manager, not SYSTEM but User
SSMMgr.exe (I do have a Samsung printer, but there's nothing in the tray, and the description shows "SSMMgr.exe"

What could I do to fix this, but without formatting?

EDIT: I can't dl spybot because it can't connect either weee :)

Check your proxy settings in IE. Firefox doesn't respect them but various other apps do. If it's set incorrectly you would see similar behavior to what you describe.

Uh oh, someone got Conflickered! See if you can access Windows Update and safe mode.

Regardless, you should try system restore and go back a couple days before things went wrong.
