I'm moving to a new country and the voltage is different there.

I have two 22" LCD LG monitors (model L222WT) and on the rear the power sticker notes that the unit uses "100 - 240 Volts". I'm currently plugged into 110 V and moving to 240 V.

I'm curious if any of you know if I can simply buy a new power cable (that matches the new country) and the unit will automatically switch voltage when plugged in?

The PS for my computer is multi-voltage but there's a manual switch that must be set before plugging it in. Is this the case with the monitors? I can't find a switch anywhere.

Have you tried contacting LG?

I'm almost 100% certain it'll just work if you plug it in. You'll likely need just a socket adapter or assuming your monitor takes a standard computer 3-prong power cable, just get a replacement for that.

Same thing goes for laptop power bricks, just plug it in, it does the voltage conversion for you.

Just make sure you plug cables in backwards when you're there, being down under, they do things backwards there. Green light means stop, red light means go. I'm pretty sure, anyway.

I've checked their site backwards and forwards and downloaded the user manuals....but there's no mention of voltage switching anywhere to be found for any of their products. Nada.

Besides...I was hoping this was a general "electronics" question and not LG brand specific.

I guess on Monday I'll have to call LG's 1-800 number and talk to someone who also doesn't know a damned thing about LG products.

im with obs. the 100-240 lets you know itll work as long as its in that range. it probably has an adapter built in, unless it has a powerbrick.

Thanks for the link. From the other sites I've visited it does appear I can just plug my monitors in (with a new plug adaptor) and everything will be fine.

ps I'm fully aware that you love explosions in your face.
