It has been ages ago..

Since I have played Quake, or have been here.
Long story short, Warcraft III came in the way. But I discovered Quake Live and did recall these forums, with a little help of google...
Anyhow, I still managed to create some autoexe and set everything on the way I want it to. In Quake Live that is, still had it for Q3A on a disc, sneaky me.
Anyway, I do have a technical issue with Quake Live nobody seems to be able to fix, but the answers here were always correct, so perhaps that remained the same in the last.. 4, 5 years?
When I play quake live and go to full screen, my monitor remains black. But the game is actually still running, as I can take screen shots, hear the bots walking and can use the quit command. I have tried all kind of resolutions, and that includes the one that matches my monitor resolutions. I use FF as my browser. Nobody seem to be able to give me the solution. Anyone here?
All suggestions are welcome, full screen dominates so much more.
PS.
Does Oermens, or what was it exactly.. =[OeRmEnS]= still get here? Perhaps by an other name?

You've probably set r_mode to the incorrect value, especially if you've copied your config over from Q3. QL supports more resolutions than Q3 did (widescreen etc) so the mode numbers changed.

I do not know what r_mode exactly is. So perhaps give me an example on them
But I did not copy my Q3 config, I created a new config with the help of a 'program' (read website) which was linked from the QL forums.

Hm, updating the video drivers was not a that bad idea,
but I did, and adjusted the settings in the QL menu, but the full screen remains entirely black =(

weird
type this in the console during fullscreen problem and see if it fixes the screen
/vid_restart
could be a brightness\gamma problem?
if it was me i would completly delete my configs and restart QL

I already tried removing all my configs and running with a fresh and clean options and configuration but that didn't work either.
Using "/vid_restart" makes my screen turn back for a split second and then gets me just back to the full screen, and according to all the blasts and shots I hear, it as well progresses the game but still does not give me a screen =(
And no, it can not be a brightness problem, because then I would not be able to take perfectly screenshots of that what I can not see.

Yes, when just playing in my browser, no full screen I play the game at any settings I wish to play with about 40ms and 125 FPS without any errors or messages from my browser or firewall or anything.

Internet Exploder, increasing suicide by 30% since it came on the market.
I do not have an other browser that isn't fucking retarded.. =(
The only way to actually boot Quake Live is with FF

Internet Explorer is the one considered "retarded". Most other browsers are much better behaved.

Oki, I tried an other browser.
Same results there; playing in my browser just works perfectly fine, but full screen remains black, while the game itself is running as I do hear my mouse go over the menu options and hear bots picking up stuff and shooting at each other.
Oh man.. my pc is against me playing q3 =(

sounds like a problem on your end and not QLive's..
you already updated your drivers, no?
what kind of monitor do you have - does it support the resolution+freq it tries to run on?

Yeah I am aware it is probably my computer and not Quake Live.
I already did update my drivers last week, video card drivers that is.
My screen resolution of my desktop is 1280x1024 with 32 bit color quality. Video Card is a Ati Radeon HD 3870 X2.
DPI settings are 96, normal.
My Monitor is the typ plug and play and the refreshfrequenzy is 60 hertz. (70 and 75 are the other two options)
I can run other games as World Of Warcraft, Warcraft III TFT, TrackNations and Quake 3 Arena normal at full settings on my computer, and at full screen (as well as with the -window option for window mode)
I'm not a total noob when it comes to computers, but definitely not all knowing and I have no clue about monitors =/
Edit; My god, it works. I thought randomness did not exicst in computers but guess it does oO Oh well, time to play I guess ^^
