Windows 7 without Internet Explorer for Europe

I can't believe no one posted about this yet (I did a search).
Apparantly MS will be shipping Windows 7 in Europe as Windows 7 E, which won't include Internet Explorer at all.
(OEM) Retailers will be able to install a 3rd party browser or a seperate, free, IE8 addon pack.
I wonder, however, how consumers that buy Windows 7 and install it themselves are supposed to get a browser. You need a browser to download a browser from the internet. Sure, you could order a browser on CD (I think you can order Firefox on CD from Mozilla) but how are you going to order it if you can't look up the contact details on their website? Tricky.

Speaking of browsers, check this chart:

Windows7E will come with a cdrom with IE install.
its nitpicking, really. they just dont want it to be installed by default. cause yknow.. that would bring some convenience to people.
fucking EU. they should stop deciding on things they have no clue about. MS has been getting the unanimous fuck you for years now over trivial things. yet they fail to address the more blatant and actually harmful monopolies and customer assfucking thats going on.

That's what you get for your antitrust retardation, morons.

lol, EU. while they've been pissing about with this shit, IE's market share has been steadily dropping anyway, even without all this antitrust crap:

that's just in the last couple of years

Is that their best idea on how to discourage people from downloading Firefox?

Sure it does (at least the Canadian one works). But failing that, even most
IE only sites will work with extensions.

Surely that requires IE to be installed?
Anyway, I think this is good news. Unlike Firefox, IE doesn't support PNG alpha channel trasnparency (partial transparency / translucency) and doesn't play decent fps animated GIFs at the right speed.
The only things I miss from IE in Firefox are the text or image glow effect and the option to choose any colour your PC can display for link (default or custom) colours (choose from 16.7 million colours, i.e. RGB 0 to 255).
If and when I get Windows 7, I'll just get Firefox on a CD with it.
No more automatic IE updates tied in with automatic OS updates.

Well IE7 might, but I'm pretty sure IE6 doesn't, and IE5 certainly didn't. "Years"? IE7 hasn't been out even 1 year.
And stop calling me "dulltron", MullKroJn.

ie6 didnt, true.
also,
Internet Explorer 7 was released on October 18, 2006.
srsly, do some research before getting into debates.

Huh? Firefox can't do that? Pretty sure it can.

I'm pretty sure you can set just about anything in FF through about:config.

The text effect things are proprietary Microsoft bullshit features which shouldn't have been in IE in the first place.
If you read
this then you'll see that Firefox 3.5 will support all kinds of fancy text effects that are already CSS standards or in standards that are in draft status.
