The trunk is much bigger than you'd expect looking at the outside.

200 HP and 207 ft-lb torque at 1,800 RPM. That is the lowest peak I have ever seen on a 4 cylinder, its like a V8.

Its a lot of fun so far. My first car and first time I've really driven a manual in real world situations. I still get nervous and stall when people are behind me occasionally, especially on hills, but I'm getting the hang of it.

Never seen reverse placed there but I have to say it's fucking smart

Looks nice. I like those Jettas (except for the chrome at the front -- yeech); I thought about getting a Jetta wagon before I got the A4, but they don't make them AWD anymore. It drove really nice, though. Hope it treats you well.

I, of course, did not get a sedan. ;)

You have to push the gear lever straight down, then move it far left and up. It's weird at first, but it's nice once you're used to it.

...man, I already miss driving a manual. :tear:

Yea the transmission is sweet. The reverse is nicely placed, and yea you push it down and slide it into gear. I love the handling and the power. Fast sedans are my thing, I love the balance of fun and practicality. I would have looked at an Audi, AWD would have been a bonus. I was actually originally looking for a WRX, but they are rather rare and prices ran higher than the Jetta did. I wish it were RWD or AWD, I find FWD not as playful. I love the fit and finish, its much better than you'd expect for something that was originally 20 K.

:olo: @ the V8 remark. Maybe a Mustang V8 back in the 60's. Anyways, nice car. I drove a GTI with the paddle shifters and it was pretty fun, the Jetta might weigh a lot more, but I can't see why you shouldn't have a good time with it.

Alot of dubs!

nice!

Btw, when you get a little tired of the HP/Tq... check out Unitronic's Flash for it,

And i Quote:
"Stage 1 (91oct/95ron) 245hp/277lb-ft"

Hell yes, :)

Also Deathshroud, Get in a FSI car, you'll know what he is talking about.

That's actually pretty standard for European cars.

Reverse in my Z works like that too. The only difference is they put it on the bottom right next to 6th gear.

Yes looks really snazzy (?) spiffy for a first car indeed and it certainly has a glossy coat  :olo:

Always loved creamy leather too.

The reverse in the Bimmer I used to have was the same way, except you don't push it down; you simply use a little bit more effort to push it further to the left and then up.

Speaking of fast sedans, Hertz gave me a 2009 Infiniti M35 for my 4-day free rental over the July 4th Holiday weekend. I wish it were much lighter, but it was plenty fast enough and practical; plus it was free, so can't complain
