They seem to make a distinction between Android and this new one (apparently it's based on Chrome).

Google already has already developed an operating system called Android, that is used for mobile phones. The software is also being built into lightweight PCs called netbooks by several manufacturers.

Google has not encouraged netbook makers to use Android as an operating system, and the Chrome-based operating system appears to be the company’s preferred software for operating netbooks.

I developed some software for Android, and one thing I have to say about it is, what a poorly documented platform. They suggest ways of a implementing multimedia which don't work, and then you have to sift through pages on google groups to try and find the answer. Awesome.

yeah, having docs for every single class sure is a crutch

I think Deathshroud is referring to some of the tutorials / best practices that went out of date when the SDK was updated.

On a side note, I think Android is a pretty great platform.

Could be interesting. I use Chrome on XP on my netbook, might just as well use a Chrome OS if they manage to get pdf, doc, ppt and music/video support working alright.

this is really a nice thing. i'm currently working heavily to set up an online workspace for myself so i can access my stuff from anywhere. starting next week i'll get myself a small private wiki to organise my thesis.

the only offline pogramm i use nowadays are a latex editor (makes writing math texts much easier / possible) and excel ~ but only for a single document and i realized google docs can just do it for me.

i think it really depends on how fast and comfortable it operates ~ but if it's good i might change.

the only thing left is nice online storage - but i heard google is allready working on this.

I just started using Google Voice and it's pretty awesome. You can read transcribed voice messages in your account; if a private number is calling the person has to state their name and you can accept/deny/or listen in on their voicemail. I fear google will take over the world soon.

Yes, this is what I was referring to, and the Android platform is very good. It's much better than Blackberry, but still nowhere near what Apple has achieved.

And yes, I realize that documentation exists Fender.
