Its... Erm... Different...

VERY console-fied to be honest, the UI is huge, everything seems like its made for people playing on a 4inch screen.

Gameplay its pretty cool as always, the new zombies and types are really nice, but a lot of it just feels unfinished, almost beta like, plus its quite buggy, sounds play randomly, zombies run at you backwards etc.

Still, should be a laugh.

did you get the demo from someone "in the biz"?

Why would you wish to play on a 4 inch screen?

DooMer: crash
DooMer: really bad
Obsidian: weapons feel gimped.... less accurate or something
shaft: seems like they tweaked a few things to make expert harder
Obsidian: harder overall, but there are things like health packs
Obsidian: we just need less crashing/lag
shaft: ran smooth for me
shaft: everythign maxed
DooMer kept going AFK for minutes at a time supposedly from random freezing and crashing (seems to have fixed it later on). I kept hitting short lag spikes and end up warping all over the place, perhaps from the server load. I think PuFFnStuFF had the same problem since I would see him freeze for a brief period in the middle of a fight. As a result, we kept having to wait up for DooMer and the rest of us kept freezing only to find ourselves down.

The weapons don't seem to have the same effect as the first game, MGs seem less accurate, shotguns seem to have less stopping power. Or it could be just that the normal zombies are harder to kill. I'm not sure which, I'll have to play it some more to be able to tell. It perhaps makes the game seem harder but also makes the guns feel gimped. L2 shotgun has significantly less ammo. Don't really see the point of the melee weapons other than the fact that your guns have that versus melee fatigue timer.

Characters are definitely less likable than the first. A tad annoying, actually. They should have just kept the old characters.

Levels are a bit more open in parts. Looks good overall, but daylight certainly makes things less spooky.

expert seems a bit harder, they dont outline friends and objects as much, and with all the new special infected it seems like you cant make it more than 10ft without a special attack. spitter is a bitch.

Yeah, especially since you were the only one not lagging or crashing. Noob.

too many specials trivialize the severity of a special :/

It's pretty good. The new special infected feel a lot more threatening. I think the spitter was added as a way to counter the teams that like to turtle up in a corner. Melee weapons are nice. I've read a lot of people complaining that they feel they're too powerful but they take up your pistol slot though so if you're running low ammo from your main weapon it can really be a set back in some cases.

It seems like there's less ammo throughout the levels which is a good thing that forces people to conserve. The only new normal zombie type that I saw was the one with all the armor that's immune to bullets from the front. A good addition because it helps the other more vulnerable enemies get closer.

Overall I'd say it's like the first one only improved in a lot of ways with a lot more thought put into its design. The demo felt a little short so I'm looking forward to the full game. It's really worth it if you can get in on a 4-pack deal they have on steam. The price of a single copy comes down to $33.75.

It's much more polished than L4D1, I severely dislike the size of the weapons on the screen, but they feel and sound nice to use. the gore is extremely awesome. I don't like the sunlight, it removes the fear element and it plays and looks much more like an arcade type shooter. I'll be interested to play the other campaigns under the cover of darkness without all the bloom.

What I am looking forward to are the realism and versus modes. All I played of COD4:MW was the hardcore mode, and the headshot only thing will be nice, i wonder if it'll be coupled with the gore elements, read: blowing limbs off but still having the zombie crawling towards you. This happens up to a point in the normal mode, but it's rare. The new SI should really mix up the versus elements, both spitter and charger can completely obliterate a well stacked group, jockey and witch combo should lead to some luls. Not sure about the defib, is it worth the loss of a medpack? i wonder if in versus it could be a good mechanic for the director to spawn one a few minutes after a team mate death, making the group weigh up the decision to backtrack or not..

i despise the new survivors, they're tossers. Maybe they'll come through in the story but i doubt this. Also, if playing with either Germans or Aussies then the UCI will be removed from gameplay because of their censored versions, which is retarded.

I went away feeling the opposite, the guns visually do a lot more damage, the AK packs massive ammounts of power, as does the autoshotty. The combat shotgun is weak over long range but up close it's extremely deadly. Not to mention the magnum (...which looks like a desert eagle o.O) I thought the melee weapons would be retarded, but in a group of four it's nice to have a couple of people up front meleeing the immediate threat with machetes or guitars and to have two at the back picking off zombies from a distance.

After some more playtime, I'm growing especially fond of the magnum and G3 sniper rifle. The old hunting rifle was slow and didn't contain a lot of rounds per clip and was terrible at close range without the sight. The G3 is accurate with or without the sight and is semiauto with a 30 round clip. Heads pop like pumpkins!

I dislike the new shotguns for some reason, they aren't as much fun to play with as the original, whereas with the original, I was all shotty and no range weapons.

i never understood the hunting rifle.
i'd rather headshot with the assault rifle, its also excellent at long range. and faster.

To be honest?
It feels far too similar to the previous game, and not really worth the cost of a full game, but I pretty much knew that already. Besides which, as others have said, the characters are quite unsympathetic.
It really does just feel like it should have been an expansion rather than a full priced game.
Mind you, the music's pretty damn good.

Only played a few games so far, but i'm certainly not as blown away as i was with the first one. The characters are very uninteresting and the melee weapons thing is something i could live without - but the armored zombie is a good addition, as are the new specials. And yes, there better be more night maps - this daylight stuff just isn't right...

I'll get it anyways because it's more of the same, but jeez, i really don't understand some of the choices they made...

I hate the music! Especially for the horde, sounds like an orchestra of flatulence.
