Errrr...
Usually: Cruise/Spielberg project => Lame story, great visuals.
This didn't look impressive at all though. Even the letters at the end struck me as 'kinda lame'.

The TV spot with the curling, warped road.

Meh.
I want some striders. I want Sky Captain to fight the striders. I want Quatermain to find the alien's basecamp in the jungle of africa.

I definitely don't want Tom Cruise in some lame Independence Day rip-off.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think that movie is going to suck.

Usually? Before this, they only had worked together on Minority Report. The story didn't struck me as 'lame', Philip K. Dick stories are epitomes of paranoia and losing grip on reality.

OK this film will be awesome. Spielberg is the best fucking director ever. Fact.

Looks great. I enjoyed Minority Report, so I'm looking forward to this.

You guys should really check out the book by H G Wells. It was written in fucking 1898, yet it reads almost like a modern sci-fi story. It's been a few years since I read it, but I was pretty impressed.

Btw, the copyright is expired so there are several free web versions out there:

hg wells is great, which is why i'm sort of not looking forward to this. i wish these adaptions didn't even try to be faithful, they just end up being annoying - it's a far cry from doing a philip k dick story.

I fear it will suck (it has Tom Cruise in it) but i will most likely watch it anyway (it will be made by Spielberg).
