Anybody any good with Flash...?

I just finished the new OverDose website and did the logo as an animation. The sites set up so various logos are created and then randomly loaded on different site visits, and are supposed to be levelshots from the game with various effects on them. Visit the link to see what I mean (But only one is created atm):

http://www.teamblurgames.com/overdose/

Anyway, heres the issue... The Flash file I thought was fine, however I noticed every 20 seconds or so it has a slight pause to the animation. I did at first figure it was down to the first and last frame being the same, so I deleted the last frame and even the second to last frame... No dice :(

Here are the source files. If anybody knows Flash at all, can you give me some indication as to whats up? :(

Cheers:

I used Adobe Flash CS4, so I'm guessing 10?

I'm not sure I can, to be honest :( I know the formats are totally different, very annoying when I was looking up tutorials and half way in found things had changed :(

I don't have flash at my girlfriends place but how are you creating the snow? is it an external animation frame sequence or is it created within flash? I don't think your problem is frame related because it seems that it freezes at diff. points all the time. unless you have a movie inside a movie with diff. movie length times and loops set ...curiosity will kill me until I get to open this thing up.

Erm, I'm not actually sure what the difference is, I'm VERY new to flash :( Its possible the length of the wind scroll and the snow scrol don't match, but I don't really know how to check :(

If the banner isn't going to be interactive why not just save the animation in to a .gif and call it good? Would save you from all kinds of headaches that you seem to be experiencing now and doesn't require people to have flash players installed.

What about animated PNG?
Few authoring programs support it, but they work in Firefox.
I couldn't find one to use, just some hack patch job for some program, which seemed complicated to get working.
Maybe someone here knows better?

Animated .png sounds like it would have less support than flash but worst of all that it would be large in file size, to be honest. This thing has 500 or so frames.

The first sentence written as a statement rather than a question would have been sufficient... :offended:

To be fair, you did just ask me to use an ugly and slow version of an image when the techs there to use a much nicer looking one. Me, remember...

I would probably spend less time worrying about the banner and actually work on other more important stuff (like the game itself). I don't mean that as a flame, just saying that it's a minor detail that wouldn't have been that big a deal if it were just a static jpg.

I was trying to be helpful and offer an alternative suggestion to flash since you're too goddamn dense to figure out a solution yourself.

You've got some serious nerve to ask for help from other people and be a complete fucking ass to people who try to help.

The other guys have helped, so far you offered a solution you yourself know was pretty naff and insults. Don't turn this into another hate thread, please.

You bring it on yourself then act a victim.

I use gif so no, it's not "naff" and the insults are a result of your offensive elitist responses. Maybe if you tried to be less pretentious you'd find less "hate" as you put it.

@Tsakali: It freezes on the same point for me after a few loops. Didn't let it go longer than 3 pauses though.

I'm with more or less with Silicone_Milk on this one. Nothing so annoying as a poorly written Flash animation taking up 100% CPU.

Which is why I posted for help with the loop. Last thing I want is a flash animation taking up 100% of the CPU (Which it doesnt, at all, doesnt even make a dent).

I wont be checking this post anymore, seems even T&T has its idiots about who cant help but distract from the original post.

Are u kidding? lol, this is 2009 man, I just installed windows 7 and flash was already on it.

o'dium, have you considered doing the whole banner with actionscripting and no timeline?

But from what i'm seeing, one of the layers in your timeline is longer in frames than the rest of the animations, even if you have an actions layer and it has more frames than the other layers it will count those frames and wait until it gets to the end

but like I said, you should try doing it without a timeline and just as3, it will run a lot smoother if that IS the case

I hate to say it mate but I just don't know what that means. :( Some of the guys at Polycount gave me some good tips that I'll try out, and I'll also google what you said, see if I can get some ideas on it.

I'll have to re-install CS4 later as I formatted over the weekend. I did have Windows 7 64bit on but damn, performance in games just died, really badly for no reason so I went back to XP until I can figure it out...

Damn dude that blows, I just installed x64 on a fresh SSD and holy shit is all I have to say. (Coming from XP x32 on a 5400 rpm drive), and all of my games run way nicer, especially gamecube/wii, I get like an extra 6-10 fps (I know that has nothing to do with the disk)
