Hi folks, I've got a windows media file [movie] that I would like to burn to a DVD that can be played on a home DVD player.

Not sure what format I need to be able to play on home player. I tried burning to DVD as is, but it won't play on the DVD player...but it will play on the computer.

Depends on the DVD player. Most will do mpeg, vcd, svcd, avi, DivX and Xvid, etc. but it depends on the unit you have, you'll have to check the manual.

Thanks. One last thing though; what would you recommend I convert the windows media file to...as in what format.

Just a standard DVD player to be viewed on.

You'll need to figure out what formats are supported by the player.
