Psilocybin, LSD and I think one other one (DMT, and maybe weed too?) are all tryptamines... they have some pretty interesting effects on the brain. LSD in particular, there are tons of interesting connections between that and various facets of our brain. If you want a mind-fuck, go read up about the connection between LSD and the pineal gland in our brain, and also the historical evolutionary importance of the pineal gland in mammals in general. Gives a whole new meaning to the "third eye."

I've done LSD about a dozen times, never had a bad trip or experience, each time was a blast. While I won't say I had any life changing experiences, I definitely had some memorable ones. Some of my favourite memories include playing acoustic guitar, hiking up a mountain with a couple close friends, camping and just sitting around shooting the shit whilst listening to good music.

I think the inventor of LSD (Hofmann) also did some work regarding the healing/revealing properties of the chemical.

a lot of truth to that, acid + nature = win


edit: btw, i wouldn't say i felt the presence of god in a religious sense, but at one point i did feel the presence of an infinite source of positive energy. the word that came to my mind at that moment was "impulse".

Albert Hofmann is a perfect example of how dangerous these drugs can be. He led a successful and fulfilling life and died at 102 years without any loss of mental cognition.

Tried mushrooms a few times, indeed excellent fun. Imo everyone should try it (in a proper nature setting) at least once in their life.

LSD i've always found a bit scary, the thought of a 6-8 hour trip does not appeal to me.

Well since we had some incidents here where tourists went apeshit on shrooms (e.g. dude butchering a dog to free it's soul), they are no longer sold at smartshops.

Being too late for shrooms, i tried an equivalent with a mate, some truffles/philosophers stones. I think we were too cautious with the portions though, because we basically felt really high and randomly burst out in laughter, like smoking the MJ for the first times. But not a trip of some sort. Still fun times though..

You can still get them in smartshops in Amsterdam i think..?

The whole criminalization thing is such bullshit. That tourist (and all the others that threw themselves off of buildings / set themselves on fire which led to the criminalization) were on a cocktail of basically everything they could get their hands on. Somehow they blamed the shrooms though.
