No shit. Android is a platform, not a phone. iPhone is both a platform and a phone. You might have a dozen top selling Android phones beating out the sales of a single model of iPhone, but counted per model, iPhone is a much more popular model.
Both Android and iPhone platforms are doing well. No one is going anywhere anytime soon.

you should be glad the iphone came around. you wouldn't have anywhere near the amount of nice smartphones that there are now. competition is a good thing.

Plus iPhone is locked into one carrier. Hopefully these numbers do more to help change that.

Its worth noting that those numbers are pretty skewed:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/pcworld/2010051 ... lesstats_1
...Android has finally done it! For the first time ever, the volume of Android devices sold beat the volume of Apple iPhones sold for a given quarter. However, the statistics are misleading and point to a somewhat hollow victory.
PCWorld peers have pointed out, drastically reduced pricing, and aggressive buy-one-get-one-free offers from wireless providers create a false sense of success. Imagine how the stats might compare if AT&T started offering the iPhone 3GS for $50 with a buy-one-get-one-free incentive...

Heard about how Sprint plans on forcing new Evo buyers to get totally new, rather pricey 4G plans? Fuckers.

I don't know if that's official yet or not, but that would only apply IF you have 4G in your area, which I do not ;D

Yeah, I'm still waiting for official word on that and a price. I do have 4G coverage here, so I'm hoping Sprint doesn't decide that dry buttsecks is a sound business decision. I heard from the cell phone sales twerp at Best Buy (lol, I know) the other night that $200 was the rumored release price, obviously with a new contract.

Yeah, that's the rumored price which is just right. Can't wait for a real review of the final OS/hardware.

lolz, I was just about to post something similar:
http://htcdev.net/topic/9094-htc-evo-4g ... d-awesome/
Seems a bit stupid to charge FORTY extra dollars a month to use it was a WiFi hotspot, can't see myself doing that. I have an unlimited plan right now, I wonder if the same for the Evo will be comparably priced. Good to know at least that the price is reasonable, now to see if I can apply my $150 upgrade to it...
