Problem connecting to home network

Alright, I'm trying to share files across my network for my parents' pc and my brother's pc to access. After running the network setup wizard on all the pcs, no dice.

My parents and brother can see and talk to each other, and I cannot see either of them. They cna see me, but not access my pc (they get an error saying they could not find the network path or something).

Any ideas? TIA.

if you have Norton security on any of those machines, kill it now.

XP Home on all rigs.

Windows firewall off on all rigs.

Sharing enabled on at least mine, but I think the option to enable sharing was part of the wizard I went through, in which case I enabled it on all rigs.

I use AVG and ZoneAlarm with low security settings, if that matters.

try turning off zone alarm for sh*ts and giggles. can they ping your ip address?

I haven't tried pinging myself, and wouldn't be able to without someone telling me how to do it. When I get a moment I'll try turning off ZA.

start>type "cmd" (no quotes)>ENTER

at the prompt type:

ipconfig

this shows your ip address with a couple of other tidbits. do this at each pc and write down each adress for each pc, but leave the dos window open.

now at each pc, at the prompt type:

ping 192.x.x.x (ip address of one of the other pc's)

you should get a reply back and no time outs.

report what you find.

i'm going to bed. excuse typos or any idiotic ramblings.

For zone alarm click the firewall tab and then click on zones.
Click add then ip address.
Enter the other computer's ip.
To get the ip click start/run/ type cmd then type ipconfig and enter that ip address.
