I never understood the excitement of these unboxing vids. A bullet list of contents is sufficient.

Ugly as tits, and it still has a drive loader, wtf...? Its like they saw everything that the PS3 did wrong 4 years ago and did it themselves... CHROME AND SHINEY, SO HARDCORE.

But I hear its quiet as fuck, so it could be shaped like a large errect penis and I would still trade up just for that...

Why are people saying it's ugly? The matte white rectangle before it was certainly no better... Do you want cold cathode lighting, see through panels, a spoiler and other stupid shit that you'd see in a riced out Honda Civic? What the fuck were you expecting?

It looks fine, the changes are welcome. It's a shame there was no price drop at all, even $20-30 would have been nice.

It is very nice. Doesn't seem to be much smaller to me though.

o'dium is incorrect so don't worry about him. The fact it is quietand lots better looking with built in wireless is a big enough reason to own one

I'll assume that Kinetic uses an USB port, but that would still leave two ports available on the old XBox (I mean, even if you were using the WiFi dongle that's no longer needed with the new model)

no, the new one has a dedicated kinetic port

Oh yeah forgot about that. Well then I really see no reason for 5 USB ports, unless MS is planning on releasing a gazillion USB peripherals.

I don't understand all of the articles I've read so far stating how pretty this thing is. I think it looks ugly as sin, too. I don't want my gaming console to look like a car, FFS. But then again, I ultimately don't care enough if it's a marked improvement over its predecessor.

i think it looks shit, but it might persuade me to get an elite if the prices drop.

The slot loader on a PS3 is one of the most common fails with a PS3... so i'm actually happy that its still a tray loading drive.

Looks like a normal xbox that got ran over in the middle... doesen't even look small enough to warrant buying a whole new one. What a piece of shit

It's not exactly the size that's the most interesting aspect of this new XBox version.

Well, external changes aside, making the HDD internal is a welcomed change, using the newer CPU/GPU cores and taking care of the heating is welcomed ( and yet to be seen ), so keeping that in mind, its worth something.

why is internalizing the hdd a good thing?
i mean its not like the 'external' drive needs 12 cables or whatever, you just snap it on.
the only thing that makes it external is the lack of housing.

i've had a few of those break slightly or make intermittent connections.

that will fix those issues, and give a cleaner look

the big thing here, which you're all missing, is it's now quiet enough to use as a media server.
