A public vote on the Canadian singer's My World Tour page asked users which country he should tour next, with no restrictions on the nations that could be voted on.
This spurred users of imageboard website 4Chan to nominate North Korea, with the vote now turning viral.

WTF, playing Nothing Else Matters is not talent. I learned that shit after like 6 months of playing guitar. Check out Antoine Dufour or Andy McKee or Dan Ross if you wanna see some innovative acoustic tunes.

No shit, he's gotten more popular recently but some of those videos he's like 9 or 10 and rocking out fingerstyle better than I could hope to.

This kid is the ultimate proof "stars" can actually be created by media hype.
I know this hyping shit goes back to Elvis and The Beatles and the like, but those guys actually *had* talent.
They were popular because they were good, not good because they were popular.
I know, I'm an old fart.
But I want to see the top 10 dominated by *musicians* again, and not by marketing fabrications.

Why would a record label want to actually go out and look for talent when they can simply make somebody up, autotune him, spend a little cash on making a cool looking video, some radio air time and some pretty posters? Going to real shows is hard work, you have to travel a lot, know how to spot real talent and potential, and find that guy who has been playing music all his life but isn't necessarily pretty boy material.
Quite simply, modern pop music is about the image, not about the music. Stupid people will continue to lap it up. Good news is that the record companies aren't making a lot of money anymore, so they'll either be forced to change or sink.

It's been like that for ages. I mean the average boyband like New Kids On The Block, the average girl band like Spice Girls, the influx of teen popstars like Britney Spears. All talentless fads that are only popular because of hype.
