a very funny and fun short trip, Namibia is awesome and you would love the place.

Himba ladies from Northern Namibia, they smear cow fat mixed with iron rust to give them a distinctive color and terrible smell.

reminds me, spoke to someone who works in Africa and does development stuff, she said that when she was in some tiny african nation the name of which escapes me right now, people were walking around with really modern mobile phones and some even pretended to make calls - but the transmitter antenna thingies had yet to be installed, there was no network...

To be honest i do not know much about the Himba people except that they live very old school However German tourists flock to take picture next to the topless Himba's and they tip the ladies $20 Rand.
They were selling stuff and in a group so i assume taking photos with tourists is an Income. All Himba girls no matter the age walk around topless so i assume some of them Nazis get off on it.Himbas are the same tribe as Herero people except Herero's wear bras.I suppose it's inevitable that some have become modernized.
Pretty much everyone has a cell phone, why not some of them. Cell phones work great up here and it's big bussiness.
I gave $150 Rand "17 Canuck dollars" because nothing beats the shock on peoples faces when you make their day.
