Revility's "The Ruiner" mod for Doom 3 released (beta)

Title says it all.

It's a great looking mod that takes advantage of Doom 3's Hell themed assets with tasteful alterations and some great looking levels as well. The promotional stuff was all 3rd person but the default game-play is 1st person

Nice! It's like a mix of Doom, Heretic/Hexen and Heavy Metal.

industrial stair rails in a mansion, shiny brick interior walls, dungeon-style wall torches and subway benches in what is clearly meant to be some kind of dining room, etc etc

don't level designers do any research any more?

Perhaps King Arthur finally returned and moved into an early abandoned subway?

That is a good explanation, I think we just need to work-out why zombies are also running rampant in the place... King Arthur has returned as a Zombie King? Zombies of the Round table? (got nothin' ... not funny enough)...

They probably did research things very well, and ran into "Health and Safety" hence the railing etc :owned:

yeah there was a run on it on account of some lip-ferreted trailer-park-dwelling nascar-loving mulleted hick in the States bought out the last container ship load for his own use, as well cornering the market in corn dogs, hooch and grits

It's a mod, not a commercial game. For that, it looks pretty cool. So quit your complaining about specular levels and that brick on the left which doesn't tile perfectly, because you're starting to sound like o'dium.

Looks like great gameplay value, graphics are neat and the development must've been a great experience.
