Any rhyme or reason you chose your nickname ? I have always wondered for example why is a Brit in the UK is called Memphis?

My previous job had me cutting down trees with an axe , so in Doom and quake1
I called myself Ax.
When i registered here 11 years ago the name Ax was taken so for reasons unknown i added baby.

i was registered here as soulofmisery but was banned for posting a bad pic, so i came with SoM short for (soulofmisery) that i've had since the internet began.

reaper (my Quake name that I would still use now) was taken when I joined and a dude I went to school with always called me Don Carlos....

I think Memph likes it as he gets to quote the Big Lebowski at me alot...

I thought 'Transient' sounded cool when I was a kid, and my excuse for using it was that I wandered around the internet looking at random pages, but never really stuck to one in particular. This is the only site I still use this name at. Elsewhere it's 'Fungah' or some derivative thereof, which comes from a written sound effect in Super Mario Bros. which Bowser makes in the beginning of the game.

I used to go by "greyfox" until I noticed half the internet used it for the same reason... Then I switched to o'dium because the title is pretty fitting for a bitter cunt like me.

These days, I usually go by either o'dium or Gavavva, a nickname that stuck with me in the college days. True story.

I wanted a cool programming nickname and voidpointer was too popular so my next choice was bitwise. Since then I've settle on Perfunction which I derived from the word perfunctory in ninth grade english. Although the word does describe me very well, I suppose it isn't the best nickname but it has a cool ring to it.

I typically name my game characters Resric which is just RESident evil with a suffix that sounded cool.

when i used to play DAoC i went by Turbanator few weeks later they changed my name cause it was offensive lol

fkd= funkit design, back when i was younger it was my design name. was gonna get into graphic design, but ended up mapping all the time.

i also use Iori Dyson, Iori from king of fighters and dyson from macross plus

originally i was gollum_smeagol because i had no imagination and liked lotr.

phantasmagoria because i was a pretentious semigoth. morphed into phantasmagonorrhea because i'm still pretentious and wanted a googlewhack alias.

Obsidian, derived from a Diablo character "Obsidian Lord". I thought it was kinda cool at the time and it stuck. Also because I'm black.

My usual nick was taken quite a few years ago when I was registering for a site so I looked around for anything else to use and saw the box for Planescape Torment by my desk. Added the 'ius' Roman-style and thats history. I use Hendl more often these days.

mrd - short for Mr. Duplicity, been using it since I can remember, I think I nicked it from an Alanis Morrisette song I feel it describes me in a strange way, not that I dupe people, but I'm somewhat of a chameleon. *shrug*

My name stems from the late 90's when we only had a dialup Internet connection which I couldn't use for gaming. My friends, however, were all picking up on cable internet connections or had ISDN which they used to play Quake 2 online. I couldn't do that so I stuck to playing against bots in Quake 2. The bot I used was the Eraser bot, so I was sometimes mockinly referred to as Mr Eraser Bot or Mr Eraser or something like that.

Once I took the game online the name 'Eraser' stuck and it has nothing to do with the Swarzenegger movie Ever since I've been running into all kinds of sites where Eraser as a nick is already in use (it appears it's one of the most popular nicks of all time) so more often than not I register as Eraesr instead. Quake3World is one of the few sites where the name wasn't taken yet though.

Nice axbaby I'd thought as much...

When looking for an internet name I picked Whiskey as it was part of my pirate radio operator call sign Whiskey Bravo 47, back in the Citizens Band Radio days (early 1970's). It was initially illegal to operate CB on in Australia. We crept (drove) around in the dark of night and only operated when we could see no one else Those were the days Whiskey Bravo was for Waterloo Bay, a local bay area.

Whiskey Bravo 47 was obviously to long for the internet so I chopped the Bravo and kept 7 just for Seven of Nine.

Used to be drietand or trident due to some discovery channel stuff with trident submarines. Then one game I just wouldn't die even though I should have many times, and got called out for it. Then got this name. As with others q3w had it free, but other sites don't, so you'll also find me as survvor these days.

I wasn't creative enough to think of anything else at the time. This is the only place i use this nick.

Obviously my nickname comes from Quake 2. I've always thought it sounded intimidating. As with most of the old timers here, Q3W is the only site were I have just Berserker with nothing added to it. I use this nick for everything from Xbox Live to well, everything. Usually adding my initials RJR because Berserker is already taken.
