Quake3World

Hello, i'm kinda new to quake. I did play QL but i'm giving up on that and going to try out Q3 Arena after watching some...ok lots of those movement videos like strafe jump and CPMA. This is probably the place for me. I have not played much QL btw...still learning and hope to get good at quake one day.

Hi there. Great to see people are still starting to play Quake 3. I think that if you decide to go back to Q3 from Quake Live, you should know that these days, it's relatively hard to get a good game of Quake 3 going because there's not that many people playing anymore. Especially compared to Quake Live.

I'm fine with that, and that there is no tier system. Only way to get better is to get destroyed. I played Q3 a month ago for 1 or 2 matches vs my other friend who plays QL with me. Do bots count as a player count in servers? i musta seen hundreads of people.

Yes bots count towards the number of players in a server.

I'm having trouble finding a good sensitivity...even on super low it's still way too sensitive.

turning off mouse accel might help

Yeah check the value of the cl_mouseAccel cvar.

Wasn't there also some difference between using in_mouse 1 and 2, or -1 and 1 or something? I remember it would use some different acceleration ramp depending on the value.

I googled it. The value -1 uses a different mouse input driver. Setting in_mouse to 1 (which normally it should be on) uses DirectInput.

yeah, grab qtracker. one of the best server browsers for old q3.
