Ear Wax

Fucking sucks. Currently almost completely deaf in my left ear, with impaired hearing in the right too. I made the mistake of using cotton wool buds to get it out (it worked actually, but also pushed the rest even further down :dork: ) and have been using olive oil for the past few days to make it nice and soft. It's not a pretty sight seeing black shit coming out of your ears, thats for damn sure.

Anyway, irrigation booked for next Wednesday. From what I gather, it's kinda like a water jet sprayed into your ears, removing all the gunk. Looking forward to being able to hear again. Thank fuck I sorted all my mixdowns last week.

Anyone had this procedure done? How was your experience?

A nurse told me to just use a removable shower head to routinely clean your ears.

Adjust the pressure, tilt your head and let it go.

You have nothing to fear it is a painless procedure. Since I wear aids I have to do it at home and when that fails go in and have it done. No worries

My wife has had this happen to her twice. Make sure you trust the doctor, the first guy that helped her used a device that spit water in her ear and sucked out the wax and she said it didn't hurt and was great while the other doc used a different technique and was a complete asshole the whole time. She had pain in her ear for a month after.

One of the most satisfying events of my entire life involves ear wax.

I had an ear infection for about two weeks, and it got to the point where even small jaw movements had me wincing in pain. I couldn't eat, sleep, or anything. Same thing, hearing was also rapidly decreasing.

I went to the doctor's and he confirmed my ear infection, and I assumed he would give my ear a wash, or give me ear-drops or something, but I assumed the pain was there to stay a while. It was seriously unbearable.

Anyway, he had me lay down on the bench and produced this long thin metal rod. He said it would feel uncomfortable, then inserted it in my ear. It made a fucked up electrical sound, like a cracking noise, and for about two minutes he just sort of wiggled it around. He then pulled it out, and on the end was a gigantic lump of hard black wax.

The pain was completely and totally gone, and it never hurt again after that point.

It was profound, because when do you ever go to the doc's and get cured on the spot?

God it was amazing.

i suggest that you try something like this first: http://www.murine.com/wax-system.htm

i used it and it works very well.

only get a jet sprayed in your ear as a last resort, it is damaging to your hearing and might increase tinnitus.

You may be dizzy after the procedure. That happened to me when I had it done as a kid.

Why even let your ear wax get that out of control in the first place?

I clean my ears weekly

Are you sure you didn't fall asleep at the doctors and wake up feeling amazed for.......a different reason?

You know this is happening because you use in-ear headphones, right?

I had the same issue until I switched back to cans. The hassle isn't worth it.
