recur error after: User Interface is version 3, expected 4

hi

I am really new Quake Player

I have Quake III Arena in may computer, but when i try to run it is showded

... recursive error after: User Interface is version 3, expected 4

This is my computer info

Laptop Compaq Armada E500 Pentium III
RAM 328
Video ATI Internal DAC 8MB
O.P WinXP Prof SP1

Also, your pc isn't going to play q3 with default settings that well...let me see if I can find you a decent config.

edit: Hold on, does that card even support OpenGl? When you load Quake, do you get to the Main Menu or is it dying at the blue window showing you what it is loading. (I've never seen this error msg, just remember reading the other topic over in q3disc)

what Direct X are you using?

User Interface is version 3, expected 4 is a direct X Error..

update your Direct X and try her out. http://www.microsoft.com/directx

I have Directx9.0b

my Video Card no support OpenGl

Yes When i run Queke a blue Windows is showing whith some information.

if your card does not support OpenGL, then you cannot play quake 3.

I've had the same problem but when I installed the 1.32 patch for quake 3. I had to reinstall quake then install 1.32 patch right away.
