Saints Row The Third

Might not be everybodies cup of tea here but anybody been playing?

Gotta say, its... Well its more fun than GTA4 by a LONG shot. I had to rescure a guy with a horse saddle on his back who couldn't speak without an autotuner from a bondage and BDSM house last night... Fantastic. Nothing to do with the game, just what I get up to in my spare time like.

But its so much fun its great, plus no shitty arsed girlfriend minigames in sight.

this is on the list with Skyrim for single player games that I will definitely play, but not until the xmas holidays. the last commercial (albeit way too long) was absolutely batshit.

Still not sunk even an hour into Skyrim, need to find the time, likely over the xmas holidays as well. :( Plus I wouldn't mind picking up Mario 3d Land as well... Why the shit everything comes out at the same time I'll never know :(

I dunno, I saw a commercial on GameTrailers which invited me to upload a picture of my friends so I could hit them with a purple dildo.

Sorry, but that's definitely not my cup of tea, no.

Although I agree, what does that have to do with o'dium's game playing?

not played it yet, but it does look like they took "over the top" and pushed it well beyond the boundries of "absurd".
not sure if I like that, tbh. SR1 and 2 were absurd situations in a believable world, but this looks like the designers took a boatload of crack and started programming. when your character steals a car by jumping through the windshield kicking out the driver, or shoots people with a sharkgun, I kinda let go.

I'm not saying it's boring. I'm saying it's not my cup of tea. I just went through the door you opened in your first post.

I'm just not a fan of this absurd, shock-to-shock humor. It's why I also think the new Duke Nukem is kind of sad.

Don't play Shadow of the Damned then... Fun game but the bit where the level is your girlfriends ass is a bit over the top.

You're using zero punctuation as a serious indication of the quality of a game?

Aye, I love ZP, but there's no way in hell I'd use him as a guide to game quality.
I've completed the game, and yes, while it has its problems, it's still one of the best games this year.
Also, the PC version is sublime, with everything a PC user could ask for including seamless swapping between pad / KB&M, skippable intro vids, sensible menus and a plethora of performance options.
The only thing that consistently annoyed me was the audio mix that often resulted in muddied voices, even after tweaking volume levels.

True, they've removed a lot of things that were in the previous game, and some of these removals have left suspiciously DLC-shaped holes, but it doesn't stop the game being hours of silly fun.

no, but i can read between the lines.
if stuff like narrative is removed so the player can get quicker to the (now random) wackidoodleness, it kills the game for me. see previous post in this thread.
