multiplayer problem

when i join a multiplayer game after a short while (sometimes longer sometimes shorter) the quake experiences an error and has to shutdown. i don't seem to have any problem in single player mode, cept when my computer wants to reboot itself, but that's a different problem. It was suggested that this could be a Punkbuster problem . If so i guess i should have it disabled.

Any thoughts on this would be helpful.
thanx

you might try a re-install of the latest point release (1.32).

sounds to me like you have more problems than just QuakeIII. either reinstall Q3 or do the inevitable.

If this only happens when playing online, it's PB giving you trouble (which you can disable by typing /pb_cl_disable in the console, but then you won't be able to join PB-servers anymore). Do a manual update with pbweb and a scan for viruses and spyware.

you get random crashes outside of Q3, so that means you can get crashes whether playing Single Player or Multi, but in Multi it just happens more often. most likely by chance, but i think you have bigger problems than Q3, man.

yes that is true sometimes i get error in IE and it has shut down. and yes it more often in Q3 multiplayer i have not had that error in single player but that could just a coincidence. if i do have bigger problems what do you think they could be, if i dare ask?

you should check out your event viewer for your errors outside of Q3 to possibly get a handle on a stable system first.

OS? and Service packs?

ok i see the application error for quake and IE as well as some others . some of them specify what faulting programs have the error. others just say "faulting bucket" whatever that means.

"faulting application quake3.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0. fault address0x0003b0c8"

I'm not sure if it's the same in Pro as Home, but right click on the error and go to properties. It should give a small explaination of the problem.
