A letter from John Romero

When he was 17 years old, John Romero sent the letter below to Jordan Mechner for his work on a game called Karateka. Jordan Mechner would later be responsible for the Prince of Persia games. It's funny to see one gaming legend writing a letter to another gaming legend in a time when neither of them was considered to be one. At the same time though, at that age already Romero came across as rather cocky and full of himself.

I had Karateka for the Apple II+. Was one of the best games out there. Completely different than Lode Runner but Lode Runner gets the edge.

Did Jordan Mechner do the 3d PoP games? The last game I played of his was PoP2, which was fucking amazing.

Dont think so. Pop2 was amazing, as was SoT and Two Thrones. WW, Forgotten Sands and the old 3D not so much

The mac version had a much better box, (much better all around really, full-on VGA graphics mate) 6 floppies took more than an hour to install though.
