One quick thing before making a decision about mx518

I've heard mixed reports from people that have the mouse and people that don't have the mouse. I don't know what to believe.
But some people say that the mouse stops tracking like the mx1000 if you lift it off the mouse pad -- very detrimental to gaming.
Is this true? I've also heard that it tracks just fine. I'm not sure what to believe.

Well I do not have a MX518, but I do have a MX510 and it tracks perfectly, so you might want to see about if the MX518 is worth the price jump from the MX510

from what i've read, the 518 is better then 510 if you switch to 1600 dpi for more precise operations

Surely someone here actually has one and can verify the truth on the main-topic issue.

And WTF did you do when you had a ball mouse?

Hmmm... my MS intelli3 stops tracking when I lift it. Not really an issue since 99% it's sliding on the mouse pad. I could see that being an issue or what with small sensitivity, do you just get in the habit of lifting the mouse while playing?
If you're running out of space to track on pad/whatever get a bigger one.

I meant, it might lock up immediately after leaving the pad's surface, and stay locked for an instant once you put it back down. Very bad.
Anyway, I just got my mx518 in the mail today and I'm very, very pleased.
I'd been using the mx300 for quite a while, so this shape will take a while to get used to, but it performs great, and I appreciate the extra buttons that I might make use of. It's a good mouse.
And it doesn't lock up like the mx1000 does. Basically, it's an mx510 with a few more options -- very reliable. I recommend it.

Stays locked for about 1 second and theres a gay delay when you start moving it again.. which the MX1000 did..
thats why i ditched my mx1000.. :-\
Isnt the 518 wired tho? it shouldnt do that.. reason the 1000 did was for battery saving reasons..
