I heard an interview thing on the radio a month or two with the inventor, he sounded like such a lovely guy. He reminded me a lot of Trevor Baylis (clockwork radio guy - if you've ever seen him speak or listened to him he comes across as an astoundingly nice, genuine, philanthropic individual. The world needs more people like him)

I don't have much use for such a device but I hope it encourages kids to look deeper into technology and not just take it for granted.

I ordered one for the lulz, should arrive in May. It would have been late April but for a procurement error, the wrong ethernet jacks were sourced which is now being sorted out.

Also, the cost for me has worked out roughly double owing to having to get a USB keyboard, mouse, 5v adapter and an SD card on which to install Linux. Nonetheless I'm looking forward to having a mess with it :)

2000 Raspberry Pi's are now in the UK, pictures of them leaving the factory in China posted here http://www.raspberrypi.org for anyone who doubts their existence!

The compliance teams of element14, RS and Raspberry Pi are working round the clock with the testing houses to assess the product now. Any issues that are identified (hardware or software) will then need to be rectified and we will ensure this happens as quickly as is humanly possible. There are different compliance standards around the globe and we are focused on meeting all of those as quickly as possible, some may take longer than others.

As soon as these initial 2000 Boards are compliant to at least one set of required standards we will receive our share of this first batch from Raspberry Pi and ship these to customers in the locations where the compliance standards have demonstrably been met on a strictly first come, first served basis ....so those who ordered first in those countries will receive the product first.

Regrettably we cannot give any firm delivery commitments on Raspberry Pi's until this testing is complete. Please be assured we will provide this information as soon as we can.

Once the product is fully compliant our manufacturing partners have the necessary stocks of components to ramp up production very quickly, so despite these frustrating, initial delays we are confident the picture will improve and lead times for new orders will reduce.

I would like to see a demo without 4x AA and at a more reasonable resolution. Mind you, very few games render at a 1920x1080 resolution.

Then again, it'd slightly besides the point. The raspberry pi isnt intended to be used as gaming system.

Aussi:
Dear customer,

Having successfully passed its CE compliance testing, we can now confirm that your Raspberry Pi will be delivered in the week commencing 21/05/2012.
No fucking idea what I'm gonna use it for.

Cool. I think I'm gonna stash it next to my TV, hook up an USB HDD to it and use it as a webbrowsing/media player kind of thing. Right now I hook up my laptop to my TV with HDMI but it's a pretty large laptop and it's just a bit of a chore to hook it up and unhook it every time.

Apparently my order was cancelled at the end of June. Hopefully they can get these things out to mass production.

So basically they cancelled and you never got notification? You're reporting this 60 days after the fact. Sounds like good customer service.

Yea I'm not even sure if I ended up being charged or refunded at this point. I was like, where the fuck is it, logged into their site and saw the order status.

You can't buy it direct right now though. I was going through some educational/industrial supply type store.

The Raspberry Pi computer is being made in the UK for the first time.

Before now every one of the credit-card sized machines have rolled off production lines in Chinese factories.

But a deal signed between Premier Farnell, which distributes the Pi, and manufacturer Sony will see 300,000 of the gadgets produced on home soil.

Since its launch in April, the device has been hugely popular and its creators said more than a million could be sold before the end of 2012.

I ordered one through Newark.com yesterday and it says it's shipping today.

They should either give you a raspberry pi for free now or send you a second one with your original order at no charge because of the inconvenience.
