Well I recon they did, and what a brave bunch those early Astronauts were.
They came from the pilot, no test pilot ranks and not only to venture into LEO (low Earth orbit) but in a flimsy craft, travel for days to a rock in space some 238,900 miles (384,400 km) then spent a little time, gather some rocks & dust, jump back inside and then hope it 'lights up' and head home to Earth, praying for a re-entry.
So much could have gone wrong then
Sorry, my hat is off to them. Even so long ago, this IMO is one on the best achievements of Mankind.
Argue?

I like how he combines his paranoia with being a miser.
I'd actually like to read that "The 99 Cent a Meal Cookbook".

it was probaby written in the 60s so is now the 999 Cent Meal
I was watching the Giants game and they mentioned this:
"They'll put a man on the Moon before he hits a homerun" - Giants manager Alvin Dark in 1964, about his feeble-hitting pitcher Gaylord Perry.
Perry would collect his first homer on July 20, 1969, minutes after Apollo 11's lunar module touched down on the Moon.
Kind of funny baseball trivia for ya.

I'm not really into baseball but that is quite interesting, so thanks HomerJ

The problem with that is that it's typically common sense. That's not exactly pulling back on the curtain, epiphany causing stuff. A lot of people don't eat fast food because it's better nutrition (obviously), or that it's that cheaper than a home cooked meal. People eat fast food cause it's still cheaper than a restaurant and they're too damn lazy to cook and clean up after themselves in the kitchen afterwards. They also don't plan ahead and go grocery shopping before they're hungry and by the time they're hungry they don't want to go to the store and buy something then have to cook it. This society is built upon easy pleasures readily available to the lazy, lol. Saying x is cheaper than y isn't enough to change the very lazy peoples' minds and if they eat a lot of fast food to begin with, they probably don't care much about the nutrition. Maybe some people will get it when they get colon cancer, diabetes, heart disease all sorts of other nasty stuff they're putting themselves at risk for.
Haha I like cooking and have a pretty good collection of cook books that have some good recipes that are relatively cheap to prepare. I got this as a gag-gift for my birthday but it does have some good stuff, not gonna lie.
