'Bugatti is preparing a new SuperVeyron for launch in 2013 - and CAR has uncovered fresh details on the new higher-performance Veyron. Like its 288mph top speed. A 0-62mph time to worry an F1 car's. And an even richer confection of carbonfibre to trim the Bug's lardy kerbweight.'

Who said the supercar was dead? Just because petrol costs these days more per litre than a decent Cote du Rhone? Or because electromobility is looming large in the minds of politicians and visionaries? Despite all those BEVs, REXs and PHEVs, the supercar is alive and kicking.

I dunno, Buggati has a habit of overexaggerating their claims. It looks fine on paper but in practice it's a whole different story. Sure, I can say a car with 2000hp will hit 500km/h but can I actually make that?

edit: Also, this is one of the only cars to be sold at a loss every car manufactured. As a company it's a huge fail.

So what kind of tires are you running on that car? I think they come with Nexxens installed and I believe the 17" ones are only rated for 130mph. Blowing out at 145... yeah it won't be pretty.

Nearly every word of your post echos EXACTLY what all the bigwigs from McLaren said about the Veyron. Then they drove it and humbly ate crow. It is beyond doubt one of the best engineered road cars in history.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm not saying it isn't an amazing acheivement. It really is a great example of what engineering can accomplish, mashing up two V8's together and all that is great.

IT didn't however go 0-60 in the times it said it would, it just did it on a dyno. Which makes sense because getting 2000lbs moving from 0-60 is simply going to take longer than 1.8 seconds. Think about it, wait.. no that's actually too long. I can only assume the thing does 0-60 in first gear? Cause you know, shifting is going to take at least .4 of that 1.8 seconds. Then there's the whole, CAN YOU EVEN MOVE YOUR ARM AT THAT LEVEL OF ACCELERATION?

I didn't read anything Mclaren said, I'm just basing my opinion based on previous claims from buggati which weren't accurate.

You're putting your life in the hands of the cheapest materials made to look fancy that mankind can come up with. How does that feel?

You make it seem like the driver will be pulling excess of 9G during acceleration. That's madness and nowhere near reality. Dragsters, the fastest accelerating machines humans have ever made, also don't pull that many Gs that the drivers can't move their arms...they're moving them just fine while shifting gears ffs.

Can you link me to any article that shows how the Veyron failed to meet its expected performance? From any of the models? Because I have no recollection of that ever happening.

I'm quite positive if Kracus was alive at the time he'd be one of the morons telling everyone that moving in a car over 30 mph will not allow you to breathe properly.

I heard about this from random reviews I'd heard of it. I can't really find anything but if you find any youtube vid (which incendentally after watching I CAN confirm it does 0-60 in 1st gear) however it takes roughly 3-4 seconds to get to 60 (it claims 2.4ish).

I think sitting still, sure it can do it but actually moving I'm skeptical. F1 racecars don't go 0-60 in 1.6 seconds (which is what they're saying btw, not 1.8)

I'm not even sure actual Drag cars go 0-60 that fast.... I wonder exactly how many G's one would experience going 0-60 in under 2 seconds. There has to be a formula or something to calculate this isn't there? I'm no math wiz.
