You fuckers seem to use any and every piece of popular music on your tv broadcasts, and yet somehow I doubt you bother getting the rights to any of those. Are the laws there different? Cause I'm pretty sure you can't use more than a second of anyone's work b4 you get sued here in the US.

Yea ?, I'm pretty sure you need to come to an agreement with the artist / publisher if you want the rights to use their music no matter its length ?, we can't even play local radio in a shop without a licence . I can't see it costing that much either as it's like an advert for the song n all, especially if its linked to a big brand which is what the more popular songs seem to attach themselves to.

It's not like they're stealing copyright, the industry is regulated by Ofcom who have no drama in busting bollocks like the Tax man.

And I think it's more to do with yank ads being rather shit, from no mark companies like staybrite windows where you buy one you get one free, I SAID, ya buy one ya get one freeeeeeee. As an assumption id say we have less broadcasting space in comparison.

If the right song is used sales go through roof - just ask Alex Clare in the IE9 advert, Chromatics for the Samsung Galaxy advert or David Bowie in the latest Sony advert
