Wonder how it will compare to what the third-party tools are offering. If its worse than the one I already paid for, that one better still work.

depends on what the third party tools are doing.
this 'fix' is purely cosmetic. clicking in the bottom left hand corner will do exactly the same as now, ie open the startscreen.

This isn't all that serious a threat anyways as I'm quite sure shart would die for a single American dollar, let alone five of them. There's no way in hell he'd die for a Euro or Pound note, which incidently are worth more, but would happily do it in the name of Muricuh on the only symbol that all of his countrymen equally worship.
