There is nothing more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, they say. Except perhaps a man in the depths of an ether binge who is attempting open heart surgery. Behold:
Wonderful!

Have you consumed enough ether..? A small whiff won't do it, you need to inhale it properly. Douse a sock in that shit and put in on your face for a while, hang back for a few minutes and take deep breaths, let the fumes do their work.

Oh come on, it's not meant to be taken seriously. It's obvious the game doesn't even take itself seriously. I've seen a couple of gameplay vids of people playing this game and depending on the whackyness and enthusiasm of the player, a lot of laughs were to be had.

you could say that about any game. some people play DayZ like it's seriouz biznessss, while others just drive a bus around the coast and hide dead cows for lulz

That's not a valid comparison. DayZ takes itself very seriously. It's primary intention is not comedy.
People are dismissing surgeon simulator 2013 because it holds very little gameplay value, the controls are a complete mess or because there's simply no point to it. But the truth is, all these three things are intentional. What might help to understand this is to know that the game was built in 48 hours during the Global Game Jam 2013, so it was never developed as a triple-A big hitter title or anything. Consider it a creative doodle, something akin to a joke, rather than something aspiring to be the next Call of Duty. I don't believe the game is intended to be played seriously for long stretches of time. You boot it up, fuck around a bit with it, have a laugh and move on.
