Company gave me their broke phone this morning, I feel loved.

I't s a Kodak EasyShare DX 4530 with 5.0 Mega Pixels :paranoid: . Now, the only thing I can really tell that is wrong with it is the button on the back that (I'm guessing) lets your browse through photos you have on your cam. That's the only thing I was told was wrong with it anyway. Here is a image. Image

The circled area is the button in question, now by any chance, have one of you guys ever ran into this problem and could maybe tell me what I'm going to break once I open 'er up...or is it most likely something small that came loose that shouldn't be a big deal to take care of..

well, after putting batteries in it, looks like something else is wrong. :( it doesn't even turn on.

Open her up and take a look. Most of the time it can be fixed but simple little things such as loose wiring.

I would say take pics but that might prove a little hard with the camera open and all.

Dunno what else you'll break by opening it up, you're right that it lets you view the pics, that's about it aside from letting you zoom in on the pics you've taken too, nothing much to be bothered about.

As for it not turning on, gues that makes it a moot point anyway, sometimes the lense doesn't come out properly after I switch on so I have to hit one of the zoom buttons, but I'm guessing it's not moving at all...

You could use it as a doorstop I guess

You could always send it back to kodak to repair. Though, my fuji has been acting up recently (when you push the flash down it doesnt deactivate the flash; dodgy contact I think) which means the exposure time is always too low and dark if the flash isn't out. Fuji wanted about £130 to repair it, fuck off .:E

bwahahaha, took it apart, ran a voltmeter over for a bit, noticed where it died, opened 'er deeper, clipped a wire back in place. And on she came.

Now the question is, should I give it back and good some good points with the boss, or just keep it.

Fuck no, keep it unless he really said "fix this and give it me back".

If he just said "have it, its worthless to me" then fuck it.

Looking around google this seems to be a "decent" little camera. Been trying to find a good deal on one for some time but I just. Been looking around for one and even told the g/f I wouldn't mind having one for the bday coming up in a few months.

What exactly is a Mega Pixel though, is having 5 good? :icon32:

edit: Keep it I will, or ebay I might.

think of it in resolution. I have a 3MP camera, and i can get 1280x1024 at least at full quality, nice and sharp/detailed.

I have 8.2

But seriously, that 5mp is way more than you need, you can do big 16x24 prints with it. What's more important is the maximum aperture (f/number that's written on the lens) and what settings (ie iso, white balance, shutter speed, aperture, focus point, drive, etc) that you can adjust on that thing.

38-144mm
3x Optical

That decent? I got it working just fine, that little button is still being gay but I can live with that. Might take it to a shop and have 'em check it out here in a few days though.

edit: How many pixels is mega, 1000? :icon26:

Thats the 35mm equivalent of the focal length, aren't there any other numbers that start by f/x.x, for example f/2.8 or something?

Contact the manufacturer and tell them you have one of their products but you have lost the receipt in a house fire.
Tell them the camera dosen't work and they'll probably ask you for some info on it and it may still be covered under warranty.

I dropped my digital camera once and sent it in to be repaired even though I took it apart and there was a screw missing and a spring from the inside that went somewhere that I couldn't find.

 hmmm, I might try the house fire thing, kinda good. Only thing not working with it is the damn button you navigate the menus with. That's kind of a have to have item and I already bought the firewire cables for it a few hours ago. Guess I'll make sure this can be fixed before I buy the memory for it.

but, you guys know how that thing is attached, It appears to be lose (it only responds when you press down) and I can turn it around and around and nothing happens. If I could just get it tighter it would be fixed.!!!!!!

f/2.8 - f/5.1 for that Kodak digicam... Decent on the wide end, poor on the long end. f/5.1 requires pretty good light, short ISO range doesn't help either...
