Can't install (load setup.exe from CD)

I just found my old CD, and wanted to give it a shot on Win XP. But i can't Install from autorun og load setup.exe from the CD. It doesn't even show an error, just won't start. But remains in "processes" after typing ctrl+alt+del. I can play it directly from the CD (quake3.exe), but this goes quite slow, naturaly.
Does anyone know what's causing the problem?
Thanks.

make a quake 3 folder, Then within side of that folder, copy the Baseq3 folder from the Quake 3 cd...
then apply The latest point release to that directory and you are off to the races.

Don't you find ironic when you say "newest" about something that is 3 years old?

Not really because it's true. It is the newest PR available.

Are there any map-packs around? I can't seem to find maps such as q3dm6tmp and ztn3tourney1 etc on this page.
