Yeah I worked on it a long time ago.
It's rough around the edges and the driving sucks massive cock, but the gun combat/combo system is a delight and orders of magnitude more fun than GTA's gunplay ever could be....which is the main focus of TOD...not the open world crap. Too many reviewers obsessed that the open world aspect wasn't as good as GTA and completely missed the heart of the game: the story missions and on-foot gunplay. The reviewers didn't like it, but they all admitted it was a really fun game. This means that it is generally panned by the gaming media but generally loved by gamers.
I'll take the opinion of gamers over the game media any day.
