"I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar," Bay said. "I got too excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP's intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down -- then I walked off. I guess live shows aren't my thing."

One good thing came of this :)

Short story time.....

I have suffered random mouse/window freezes & BSODs recently.
W7 Ultimate, Multiple monitors and all drivers etc OK
Isolated latest hardware (wireless KB & mouse (Christmas present)) after BSOD saying recent hardware problem (?) and it still (just) happened.

Watched this video again for a laugh and PC rebooted?
This time different, wireless dongle thing didn't start with MS window telling me there was a USB problem.

Short is, I put dongle thingy in front USB port and things are normal :smirk:
Go figure... Fingers crossed & thanks SoM :D

I really don't like Bay, but he's just a director (a laughable one with only a few watchable films). He's not a spokesman. It's not his scene and he's obviously terrible at it. His explanation also seems to be true. It wasn't even that big of a fuck up. The guy apologized and walked off stage...

Agreeing with xeros. I'm surprised he isn't better at keeping a situation like that under control as a director, but as someone with a bit of social anxiety I can't say I would have acted much differently. You can definitely see the panic and embarrassment as the plan vanishes in front of a huge crowd.

Why buy one of those when you can just build your own much better rig? Why not just have PC connect to TV and play steam games thru it?

Seems gay...

As I said in the SteamOS thread, it's not the hardware which is interesting here, but the OS. It'll be interesting to see game streaming, HTPC capabilities and possibly other software options that will bring PC games and to the living room.

All this hardware is just prebuilt desktops like any other prebuilt desktop. If you're capable of assembling your own hardware and installing software, you wouldn't buy one of these any more than you would buy a Dell desktop. You would just roll your own hardware and install SteamOS yourself. This is for the morons who don't know how to plug a GPU into a PCIe slot.

Also, Michael Bay is a tool.

Wow, that's rough. If it weren't for Armageddon, I might feel bad for him.

I feel bad that you listed Armageddon instead of The Island as his best movie and the only reason the island was good was because he had a lot of smart people working on it.

Hopefully it prompts some matx cases to be released with pcie risers. I know there's at least one in development.

I built myself a HTPC/steambox on the cheap, but for now I'm sticking to Windows 8.1 until there is a genuine reason to use Steam OS. About $350 for a system that can play 3d blurays, pretty much any indie game, and pulls 40 fps in Far Cry 2. All off a 275 watt psu as well.
