Rayman Legends...

...is awesome. Just saying.
If you're looking for a break from all the burly space marines, zombies and US military stuff, pick up this game. You will not regret it. In fact, in two months time you'll come back to me, all teary eyed and emotional, saying "Thank you Eraser, for showing me the path of enlightenment. It has changed my life and I am now a better man because of it".

I'll keep on eye on it on Steam, always love a good platformer.

It supports the 21:9 aspect ratio at 2560x1080.
I may get it at some point just to see what it's like to play a 2D platformer like that.

You'll be glad to know it's a 60fps game. Less impressive for PC gamers I guess, but it's one of the few console games to run natively at 1080p@60Hz with no upscaling. And the artwork is just stunning.

i actually installed steam for the first time - steam has always been a bit of a mystery to me - i've heard of it and vaguely know what it does. Anyway, made my download this ubisoft thing too - wtf is going on these days?

Dloaded rayman demo, stuck at 60hz fullscreen in 1920x1080 and doesn't have option for refresh. fuckin bullshit. So gonna try this thing called borderless windowed mode so I can play at 85 hz (or higher if I choose a lower res).

meh, hope it's worth it - goddamn what happened to the days u could just dload a game directly and not have to worry about all this steam nonsense.

edit: wtf, it's capped at 60 fps? Why???????

Because 60 fps is enough.
You still have a 1999 Quake 3 mentality here Julios. Stop doing that. Just install the game, play it and enjoy it.

Steam has been crashing on me, no clue what the deal is. All I want to do is try LA Noire that I purchased a hundred years ago.

Definitely almost rocked some Q3 last night :q3:

but you need 125 fps to make those jumps in Rayman!

still curious why they cap it at 60 fps. Sounds like something apple would do...

No harm allowing people to cap it manually if they want a more stable framerate, although with gsync or powerful rigs that's not really an issue.

Question - from what I've seen of the game - it looks pretty and witty, but is it challenging?

Funny you mention gsync, because that's relatively new tech (no widespread use) and capping at 30 or 60 fps solves a lot of vsyncing issues. Getting a solid 60fps on a 60Hz monitor eliminates screen tear. Also, when you can target a single, solid framerate, then that makes development of the game a lot easier as well. PC masterrace people often blame consoles for 30 or 60 fps caps, but there's just a whole load of advantages when targetting one of these framerates that aren't console specific.

Diffficulty ramps up to decent levels pretty quickly. Yes, the game provides a challenge. Maybe not Dark Souls levels, but challenging enough.

yea i get targeting a certain framerate, but what is the harm in giving the user the option to use a different cap? 60 hz on my CRT is too flickery. I need at least 80-85 hz, and it would be nice to bring my framerate up to match that if I want to.

Medical monitors perhaps?

those are probably the finest CRTs ever produced. They're studio quality and when calibrated they look stunning. Calibrating them is no walk in the park, and it's taken me the better part of a year to learn how to do it.

They're also extremely rare and highly sought by gamers and people who enjoy good picture quality. I believe one recently sold for about $2000, although I think that was new in the box.

They have been used in medical applications, but they had a strong niche in movie production work, and were in use up until very recently in many studios.

In that photo, only three belong to me (of which only two are in working condition). The fourth is a buddy's who recently purchased one and drove it over for me to calibrate.
