The question remains, if there was no foul play: why did the plane veer off course 350 miles west and have zero communications with air control?

Some small part of me thinks there is something sinister at play here...

EDIT: The other thing is, I read that the pilot had been with Malaysia air for almost 35 years and had nearly 20,000 hours logged as pilot. That does not speak to me of someone who doesn't know what to do in an emergency. Unless it was explosive decompression or a bomb, what the fuck else could have possibly happened that would have meant no communication?

Vietnam said it had halted its air search and scaled back a sea search while it waited for Malaysia to offer more detail.

“We’ve decided to temporarily suspend some search and rescue activities, pending information from Malaysia,” Vietnam’s deputy minister of transport, Pham Quy Tieu, told AFP.
