MURICA trip done

NYC was awesome in every way you can imagine. It is bigger than you think it is going to be and smashes you to bits if you think you can walk around it constantly. I did about 20 miles in 2 days and I ached. I then took the subway around the place to get to a few of the locations I really wanted to see.

Las Vegas was cool, though I wouldn't rush to go back. The weather was nice and the people were friendly enough, but there were some right douchebags there who thought they were the balls.

The Grand Canyon is one of the most amazing places I think I will ever go, though. It was incredible in every sense of the word. Flying down into it in a helicopter then doing a boat trip along the Colorado was special and I would highly recommend that to anyone who is considering going.

I will post some pictures up for you guys as I know you are all super interested

Vegas is no place to judge the character of the people. It's where a lot of people go to be an asshole.

I'm stoked about seeing NYC next month...

I found visiting Las Vegas a bit like visiting a movie set... everything looks rather nice from far, but up close you notice that everything is made of plywood coated with resin and paint. NY is pretty cool, though it's been a long time since I've visited... was pre-9/11 and I remember going to the top of the WTC.

I would love to go to the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Park someday. I heard they may have a few cliffs you can climb on.

I went to NYC last year and enjoyed my time there, even if I didn't get to see everything I wanted. The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island were particularly satisfying to visit. Some time in the future I'd like to visit some of the larger national parks like Yellowstone. Some time...

Agreed, NYC blew me away, too! In fact, it impresses me every time I go there. Haven't been to Las Vegas or the Grand Canyon, so can't comment.

Did you go to LA?

The climb up half dome is pretty epic. This is the last part of the hike:

You need a permit nowadays to climb (open to anyone, just need reserve far enough in advance). Something about overcrowding and people falling 5000 feet to their death.

Half Dome is pretty cool, but I was talking about maybe taking the other route on this side of the mountain....
