Does anyone else play the Civilisation games? I've just started Civ V and I am absolutely loving it. Never thought I'd get into the games despite actually liking the look of them for ages, but after a LAN the other day and someone showed me the ropes.

Beyond Earth looks incredible and I'm considering going all in and getting a day one release of it. Anyone ele going to be dabbling?

Never get a Civ game on day one - traditionally they're full of bugs which only get patched 6 months or so after release.

And nah, don't think i'll be getting it. Civ is such a timesink, can't really afford it at the moment.

I still play Civ4 and Rev a lot, tho after a long hiatus.

Tried Civ5 a few times the last few weeks but couldnt get into it as much as Civ1, 2 and 4 did. 3 didn't do much for me either tho not by lack of trying.

not sure about Beyond Earth, I never really liked Alpha Centauri either (which is basically the same thing).

I played Civ and Civ 2 a lot. Also played Civ 3 a bit and Civ 5 but didn't like 5 very much.

I actually disliked Civ 5 for not allowing stacks of Doom. Managing troops got really tedious that way.

Well I'm not gonna go back and buy the older Civ games so I might hang fire on Beyond Earth and just sink my time into V instead and get used to the game mechanics and the like.

It is an absolute time sink, though. Worse than Diablo 3! I clocked up 14 hours of Civ this weekend :paranoid:

Can't have that many time mines laid at my feet. It won't end well for any social life I wish to maintain and I'm sure the lady of my life will also be displeased

oh ok. I thought you meant you wouldnt want to play an older game which would be absurd, especially when it comes to Civ.

re: stacks of doom. I liked the way CivRev handled this with Armies. Too bad that was never added to one of the many Civ4 expansions :/

That's not the original music for that video. Someone on Reddit put that together, not changing a single frame or any of the music. It fits it perfectly...

They clearly changed the video's music :p.

(yes, I know what you mean)

FYI dudes there's a 70% off Civ V or Expansions at gamefly.com right now. I picked up Gods + Kings for $8 last night. It's pretty cool.

I love Civ games, I'll most likely get the next iteration.
