It's the current games with gold offering, and guess what? This game is pretty good! I'm enjoying this thing a lot right now. I must admit that I haven't really played a military shooter since COD:MW2 so it feels kind of fresh to me, even though the Black Ops 2 demo bored me to tears when I played that half a year ago.

Certainly a lot better than Halo Reach-around eh?

It was pretty good on the PC..

Speaking of free stuff. Dragon Age is currently free on Origin.

Finished it. It's an endless chain of cliches but all executed very well. Didn't this game win awards for its sound design? If so, I understand why. The simple effect of gunshots echoing off of nearby hills just adds so much to the immersion. It's also the first game where I regretted firing a high powered sniper rifle whilst inside a sewage tunnel. My poor ears.

BC2 is one of the best iterations of the battlefield series imo. Don't think i ever touched the singleplayer campaign, but the multiplayer carnage had me absolutely hooked for the longest time

So I'm playing BFBC2. Jesus Christ I thought this was supposed to be the lighthearted side of the franchise.
Instead I'm greeted with dull missions where I need to memorize the position of the instakill enemies, take part in a shooting gallery parade as I wait for my health to regenerate, get slapped in the face with a "return to the battlefield"-countdown whenever I take 10 steps off the designated route, and deal with boring - mostly unsupportive in combat - characters who start every other sentence with either "Sarge", "Tangos" or "Copy".
It's so awfully paint-by-numbers, and they only had three colors left.

How can you rant on about the generic feel of Halo but not criticize anything about this game?

An utter snoozefest that only manages to infuriate.

Well I said it's an endless chain of cliches. What helped for me is that I didn't pick up and play every military shooter I could get my hands at since MW2, so while some things did bother me, I didn't let it ruin the game for me.
As for the comparison to Halo, at least the events in BC2 made sense, the characters are more memorable than dude in blue suit, chick in green suit and big dude in brown suit and everything has a solid feeling to it rather than this play-doh nerf gun type of thing Halo has going on.

a solid feeling? really?
I like how the dudes will just stand there when you throw a grenade at them (on Hard mode no less), and then die by using one of the 5 death animations they have.
a grenade exploded on my face, ergo I will use the 'grab my leg and slowly crumple in pain'-animation. yknow the exact same one he'd use after I saw him in half with my BAR.
at least in Halo a shotgun blast or grenade will send them flying. it just feels so utterly unconnected, like I could just as easily not even be there. Which is true half of the time thanks to the scripted action sequences.

what bothers me more is that they are more willing to shoot at me than get out of the way of the grenade though. theres no tactics going on, not even one as simple as flushing them out. Meanwhile my squadmates insist on standing at their programmed cover position and try to shoot that one dude 400 feet away behind the wall.
Luckily the enemy will do the same so unless I navigate through the poorly clipped enviroment to get a decent shot the firefight will go on ad infinitum.

btw this is not meant as a Halo vs BF debate or anything.
I had some higher hopes for this game and it disappoints beyond my wildest dreams.

Jesus christ, what a pointless discussion - what are you guys even doing playing BC2 singleplayer? That mode is not exactly where it shines you know. And on hard no less? But... why?

This is about the same thing as complaining Far Cry is a poor racing game.

in the same vain that a tacked on MP brings down a game (GTA4, Tomb Raider), a tacked on SP ruins a game too.
if your argument is "the campaign is not supposed to be played" then dont include it in the first place, like BF1943.

but they did. and it's weak.
also played some MP last night. I never liked the whole rewards-for-hours mechanic, and I got pooled against a team with 2 lvl50 dudes and their airstrikes and thermoscope sniper rifles. :(

That's why I could never get too deep into BC2. If you don't have the time to play games 23 hours a day like Memphis, you'll get stomped by ubernerds and their leet unlocked premium content.

Agreed - never quite understood why they included it myself, it's as useless as tits on a boar hog. As for the multi, the fun factor goes up by a large margin if you play with friends - teamplay > unlocked gear, every time.

Say, you have it on PC by any chance? I'll probably have time for a game or two saturday...

Nyet, I uninstalled it like 4 years ago \o/

And if I'm not on the ice on Saturdays, I'm at the office. Barely have time or patience for games these days.

EDIT: Just realized you were talking to Emkajew. Damn dutch0s and their ninja post culture :ninja:
