q3map3 : where are you now?

As much as I would love to bump the original thread:
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=43211&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=q3map3
I thought I should start a new one because it's been a solid 3 or 4 years since anything's been done with it and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that folks may rekindle interest. I have a lot to learn before I could really do much of use with the code on github, but I'm mostly wondering if anyone out there has already or would be interested in trying to compile what SiliconeMilk had there, and what the pitfalls were.
This came up in the back of my mind again when I discovered that the Nvidia Tesla S1070 can be got for less than 200 bucks these days, which got me thinking about Cuda, which always brings me back to q3map3.
If anyone would want to lend a hand, I would love to try to turn this into a polished alternative to q3map2
