Actually no, although i've been to both the places you mention a few times. I was going to confirm your thoughts. Russians are vile people, but that's mostly born from population density. i never enjoy my visits to Russia.

But seeing as you insist on a story. The last time i was there was early 2014 visiting partners and for the whole visit there was a woman with a clipboard that no one wanted to talk about who she was or why she was with us. We were told not to approach or talk to her. We only found out who she was on the last day, basically she was whatever the KGB is calling itself these days because a few of the party were Ukrainian.

i was going to say that Russia sure seems this way, but then thought a) i've not actually been there, so that's unfair, and b) what i've seen of the countryside looks awesome, it's just the cities that look shit
