For those of you interested in VR/AR, this sci-fi book was published in 2011 (before the current VR/AR buzz) and is required reading for anyone who wants to work for Oculus Rift. As I read it, it is apparent that this piece of fiction posits a true picture of what the future holds. Great read.

I haven't read this one yet. I'll have to give it a go.
Another good book with a heavy dose of augmented reality is
Daemon, by Daniel Suarez. The author has a programming background IIRC. It came out in '09 and some of the things in the novel have already started showing up in the VR scene, like Microsoft's headset.

I enjoyed it, but don't bother reading his new one Armada, its rubbish.

I did enjoy Ready Player One, but I can understand some of the backlash regarding it being a bit too fan-fictiony.
If you'd like another interesting read about cool implementations of AR, I highly recommend Tim Maughan's Paintwork. It's a book of three short connected stories, the first about augmented reality billboards and graffiti, the second about a journalist that's more a connecting story linking the first and last, and the last about augmented reality eSport Mech battles in Havana.
