I just watched this and a lot of his other videos. Only wish he didn't compress his voice so much, it makes me tired listening to it very quickly. Actually turned off my bass to be able to stand it. Great videos otherwise though.

Great video. Noticed he did one on Doom as well.

I think you might need to adjust your setup, his voice sounds perfect here.

It's not that it sounds bad, just that it's compressed so much that it makes me tired listening to it. I probably wouldn't have thought about it if the video was shorter. Great video nonetheless.

What does compression do exactly? Like, what cues are you picking up that he's applying any processing to his voice? Sorry, I'm a complete noob when it comes to audio production.

It dials down the volume above a certain volume threshold. So effectively, it makes loud sounds less loud. It's used to reduce the dynamic range of an audio track.
What is often done is reduce the dynamics and then crank up the volume of the track. This means that the peak volume isn't higher, but softer sounds are louder making the whole thing sound louder and, well, compressed

Exactly that. I actually had edited my previous post to describe that. Note that every producer uses compression in music tracks though. You just need to be tasteful about it and not over do it
