Yes, seeing it al on the news here recent nights... just so glad I am not there.
Look, I understand the emotion for a black death in custody but not the senseless and continued riots. I suggest opportunist criminals are rampant and I'd be shooting the bastards!
No racsim is intended as
in Australia, it is acceptable to say 'black deaths in custody'.

I just don't see the continued civil unrest is going to bring back the dead. Better get the perpetrator off the street and in jail for years. Just my opinion, no more or less.

Protests are one thing. Shit I have protested and shaken the gates of our state parliament house grounds, I have a photo somewhere but arson, riots and looting is another matter all together.

Just watching the 6pm Sunday news here. With 29 cities across the USA ablaze, people snatching automatic rifles off Police in the street, anarchy everywhere... Buildings set afire a block from the White House.
No this is no protest against Police brutality. It is mayhem. Good luck USA. You need it......

So when the bodies pile up, TV show the piles of dead looters being moved away and days of police shooting people they are going to calm down? These people have nothing left after Covid-19 and Trump.

The "full force of the law" has been murdering and subjugating these people for centuries in America. It took a long time but they finally realized the law is not on their side, that no matter how legally they criticize the system or how peacefully they protest against the abuse, nothing will ever change. Just because of these protests, those cops that were initially going to walk free have been charged with murder. The power is in people's hands right now and they're demanding the same justice for all victims of police brutality—and hopefully they won't stop anytime soon. America is a war-loving failed state that prioritizes profit for its elites over basic needs for 99% of the population. What did you expect was going to happen when these people had even their measly slave-wage jobs disappear during the pandemic? The jobs that still required them to be on food stamps just to survive?
You probably think black people are just a bunch of lazy crackheads that prefer living in ghettos, so I'd recommend you kickstart your basic education by reading about Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1921 and
Gary Webb. Then you may want to read up on Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Nelson Mandela and all the laws they "broke".

Police also need to answer to the rule of law, they are not above the law. In fact, they need to be held to a higher standard since they are the ones responsible for upholding the law. By your argument, we should be shooting cops on sight, especially for their actions as depicted by the links Eraser posted of police brutality - many of which are against normal peaceful protesters and even people just carrying about their normal life.
I'm not justifying looters (there are relatively small groups of violent citizens and looters compared to peaceful ones), but to pretend that looters are the bigger more worrisome issue here is just plain dumb. To believe that escalating violence in a time when that violence has already claimed innocent lives is just flat out dangerous.

I kind of got upset over the looting as well, but seeing it from the perspective Trevor Noah outlines here is enlightening.

@obsidian, I totally agree. Police are not above the law and should be handed increased penalty/sentence. I've yet to view links posted by Eraser of police brutality but will..

I would have thought the officer and others about at the centre of this would have been charged with murder and didn't know they were going to walk free, save the protests. Still looting is a step too far. What's next, open rape and murder in the street?
