Some nuance.
The steam versions of Doom have been replaced with the more recent, released along Eternal, Unity ports releases.
And that was patched to support wide-screen.

Also not the first patch it received. They previously added Sigil as an official addon along with some other popular community created wads.

While excellent, it's not like id decided to update their 27 year old DOS game. It's essentially an official source port.

More interesting is the new difficulty, UV+.
Nightmare mode without the respawning enemies, but with co-op item placement to compensate.
Really a new way to play.

I wish theyd add pistolstart as a setting as well.
