That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Isn't that post hoc logic?

You're right, there isn't. It IS, however, a simplified term for something that really does exist. And that something is wording in the constitution that is meant to keep religion from influencing government policy.

Because they were overly-religous prudes who killed others regularly for not believing the way they did and/or breaking some religious code, and the Brits didn't want them there raining on their figurative parade?
